Shayna Renee's Spicy Reads

My name is Shayna Renee and reading is my passion. I can’t wait to escape reality and dive in to a passion filled love story! I own a Nook, Kindle, iPad, and way too many paperback books to count. I never find myself without a way to read a chapter here and there. My favorite type of book is one that can pull every type of emotion out of me. The uglier the cry I get from reading, the better! It all started when a friend of mine urged me to read a little book called Fifty Shades of Grey. Have you all heard of it? Yeah, I thought so. I found myself wanting to see what else was out there, what was so fascinating about this particular genre. On my journey, I discovered authors like J.R. Ward, Shayla Black, Sylvia Day, and Sylvain Reynard and I was just hooked! After reading these fabulous books for a while, I discovered I really had no one close by to share my thoughts with. That’s when I decided to start a blog; a review blog that could help me get my thoughts out there and in turn get other people’s recommendations and opinions. I absolutely LOVE the authors and romance readers I have met through this journey, and I only hope to continue sharing my adoration of books with you!

Make sure you connect with me on Goodreads, Facebook, and Twitter!
HAPPY READING!

Front & Center (Back-Up, #2) - A.M. Madden ***Front & Center is book #2 in A.M. Madden's awesome Rock Star Romance series, Back-Up. This is not a standalone and must be read in order.***

Rock Star Romances are always a favorite of mine. Why? do you say...well, there is always a gorgeous, sexy lead singer with dimples that make you swoon. THAT, should be reason enough, right? There is also the strong female lead who chases away the hero's demons, AND we can't forget about the hysterical, yummy band mates that you just want to hang with, have a beer with, and hope it leads to more...hehe! Front & Center has all that and more. It's filled with intense, passionate love scenes, plot twists, and engaging characters. With Front & Center you will experience heartbreak, gut-wrenching, emotional heartbreak that will have your stomach in knots.

"Leila, I love you so much that it's sometimes hard for me to breathe. You have changed my life. You have altered every cell in my body. You own me, completely. By simply staring into my eyes, you can bring me to my knees."

See...I told you it was intense! God, what I would give to have a beautiful, sex on a stick Rock Star say that to me. Total *swoon* moment! As you know at the end of book #1 we were left reeling after a person from Jack's past dropped a bombshell on him. I'm pretty sure I stopped and stared for a good 5 minutes after I finished Back-Up. Front & Center picks right back up with the aftermath of the shocking news. Chaos ensues, lives are threatened, love and loyalty is tested.

"You have been a royal pain in the ass." ....."But you are my royal pain the the ass."

For being a huge fan of "dual POVs," it worked really well in this story. There is just so much going on in each of their heads, I just would have felt cheated if it was done any other way. Another great thing about Front & Center is the fact that it encompasses the secondary characters in the story. In this series you get so involved in all of the characters lives, it's just fantastic that we dive more in to their pasts, relationships, and even struggles. You can think of it as getting more stories for the price of one.

So to sum up, rock star romances rock hard, Jack Lair has a smile that will make you melt, and A.M. Madden is a fantastic author that has made a huge fan out of me! If you enjoy reading about a sexy rock star that rocks hard, loves harder, and screws like a rabbit, well look no further, because the Back-Up series is just right for you!

"Thank you."
"For rocking your world?"
"For loving me."

Misbehaving

Misbehaving - Tiffany Reisz Let me start off by saying, I WANT BEATRIZ’S LIFE!!! I mean COME ON! A sex blogger, who gets to review various sex toys and sex books! HELLO! I’m half way there! Oh wow! This was a VERY sexy, VERY funny, VERY entertaining read! Cosmo had it correct – Misbehaving by Tiffany Reisz is a RED HOT READ!

❝ Sometimes I think I’m kinky because I fantasize about slapping you. And then I realize I really just want to slap you. ❞

This was my first read from Tiffany Reisz. I know, I know. I am SO out of the loop! All I can say is I WANT MORE! Misbehaving was a refreshing sexy read that has me grinning from ear to ear. I often get in this pattern of reading dark, emotional romances, because I love how it just pulls every emotion possible out of me, but this gem from Tiffany Reisz, allowed me to take a break from the suspense and just sit and enjoy a quick, quirky sexy read.

Not only was the storyline light-hearted and hysterical, the characters were just as fun. I loved Be a from the first couple of pages. She is feisty, smart-mouthed, and she says whatever is on her mind. She has a confidence about herself that I envy. And Ben, the ex college love, was one of those characters that you just want to hang with and of course, have sex with, but definitely hang with and have a beer or something. Ben always talked to himself which I found very humorous as well. I think the secondary characters, Henry and Claudia almost stole the show in this one. They were just amusing as Bea and Ben.

What was supposed to be just a week of experimental sex, reviewing a sex manual for her job, turned in to something more than she could ever imagine. Dare I say L-O-V-E?!

❝ I can’t read while you’re doing that. Your vagina has rendered me illiterate. ❞

Spellbound

Spellbound - Sylvia Day When readers hear Sylvia Day, they automatically associate her with the amazing Crossfire Series and the book boyfriend to end all book boyfriends, Gideon Cross. And me being a VERY big fan of the series was excited to read something else from the fabulous Sylvia Day. Spellbound was a good paranormal erotic romance that had great elements and some not so great. With all of the hype and high expectations from this author, I was expecting a little bit more out of Spellbound. Don't get me wrong, I do recommend this to romance readers, I just don't want you to think you are getting another hero like Mr. Cross.

We do, however, get Max Westin, who was a great hero in Spellbound. Ladies, don't worry, his possessive, sexy nature will get your motor running. I wasn't expecting the BDSM elements in this one, but I was so glad she incorporated that in this book. Max is a Hunter and by default he was also a Dominant. Once he sets his sights on Victoria, a beautiful, stubborn Familiar, he knew she was going to be the one to submit to him, no matter what it took.

❝ My pleasure is yours. My hunger is yours. ❞

Victoria lost her one and only love to pure evil, and she has yet to get over it. Stubborn, feisty, and powerful, there has yet to be anyone who can tame her and bring her to her knees. When Victoria lays her eyes on the gorgeous Hunter, she can't help but to have a little fun of her own. Little does she know that Max wants more from her. He wants her body, mind and soul, but is she strong enough to let someone else in her heart?

I will tell you one thing, Sylvia Day can write a scorching hot sex scene! I mean WOW! The storyline wasn't my favorite. It was lacking a little depth, but still kept me engaged the whole way through with some good paranormal suspense. Sylvia Day will still be my auto-buy author favorite, no matter what genre she is writing.

❝ I'd fuck you endlessly if I could, stay inside you forever. When I'm not in you, I'm thinking about it. Craving it. I don't feel whole when I'm not a part of you. ❞

Theirs To Cherish (Wicked Lovers, #8)

Theirs To Cherish (Wicked Lovers, #8) - Shayla Black The Wicked Lovers Series by Shayla Black is one of the sexiest, most intense, and just plain brilliant series out there today. I always find myself counting down the days until Shayla gives us another one of her masterpieces. Not only does she create these magnificent characters and thrilling story lines, but she pulls you in with so much depth and emotion that you can’t help but get attached. There is just something about this author’s way with words, both crazy sexy and ridiculously emotional, that will have you squirming in your seat, craving and begging for more.

I think the main reason why I loved Theirs to Cherish so much was the fact that this was supposed to be my man Thorpe’s happy ending. Mitchell Thorpe, owner of Dominion, was introduced to us in previous Wicked Lover books. He was the hard ass, intense as hell Dom who never took any shit from no one. His word was law in Dominion, and damn did he just hit all the right buttons for me. He was always a mystery. A mystery that always had you thinking in the back of your mind, “what is his deal?” Thorpe was always the man in the background, a gorgeous man who was unreachable, unattached, and always in control. A past relationship killed his spirit, and now he doesn’t believe he is good enough, tender enough to care for the one woman that he’s wanted by his side since the first time he laid eyes on her.

“You want Callie, as I do,”

“More than I want all my tomorrows,”

Sean Kirkpatrick, the newest Dom in town, has his sights set on the sub that Thorpe has sworn to protect. He’s collared her, made her his, but there is more to him. He is a mystery himself. Sean has secrets, secrets that could destroy his future with his “lovely.” In most ways, Sean is the opposite of Thorpe. Sean is tender, more gentle. He is not at all afraid to share his feelings with the woman he loves.

“Share your mind and heart with me. Give me your trust and honesty. You’ve been alive, but you haven’t really lived, Callie. I want to help you do that and be with you every step of the way.”

Callie Ward was always a puzzle to me. She is the epitome of a bratty submissive. Some subs are bratty, because they crave attention from their Doms, but Callie isn’t like that. Her brattiness stems from something deeper. It’s her way of not getting too close to people. Callie’s devastating past has prevented her from being truly happy. She wants nothing more than to stay in one place and give her all to her Sir, but something is holding her back.

“I’ve never understand a Dom’s fascination with a sub counting. You’re educated. You can get to ten without me.”

These three characters are so incredibly strong. All three have secrets that are preventing them from giving 100% of themselves. You have a man who is always in control, feeling completely inadequate, you have a man who has to hide his true self, and you have a woman who has been running her entire life. You have no choice, but to hold these characters close to your heart.

The best part was seeing these two men gently warm up to one another, especially with such strong personalities. The love that they share for Callie is so incredibly beautiful, and the fact that they can put aside their feelings, step outside of their comfort zone and just be what she needs is, is my definition of the perfect Dom.

What it all boils down to is that Ms. Black took us on another amazing journey filled with suspense, heartache, and scorching hot sex. What more could you want? Theirs to Cherish is a steamy, fast-paced romance that will have you on the edge of your seat. You get page after page of double Dom goodness! Your old favorite characters jump in to the madness, and you are also introduced to some new faces and personalities that will make you smile. Tears, laughter, and shock, just be prepared for a very long night.

Nico (The Leaves, #3) - J.B. Hartnett ***Shayna Renee's Spicy Reads Top Pick***

Nico is book #3 in The Leaves Series by the amazingly talented J.B. Hartnett. The Leaves series is a series that will stick with you long after you finish. Nico is a very powerful, heavily emotional, love story that I think everyone should read as soon as possible. I think Nico could be read as a standalone novel, but I don't recommend it. To get the most out of this book and this series, you really should start at the beginning. Believe me, you will not be disappointed.

Cole was a Top Pick of 2013 for me, and when you have two great books and you release a third, there is so much pressure for that next book to blow the others out of the water. I believe the author surpassed my expectations in that regard. Inky and Cole were so hardcore in the emotion department. I don't think I have ever been that emotional while reading a book before. But Nico is a character who we were introduced to previously, and we had just barely scratched the surface with him. I can't tell you how damn excited I got when I learned he was getting his own book! I just had to know more about this beautiful man.

Nico is a character that might not come off as "damaged," like most main characters in romance novels. He had a wonderful mother and father who loved him very much. He was raised with good morals and ethics. Both his parents helped disadvantaged women and children, and that was passed down to him...he just has a different way, his own way, of helping people. When a person walks in Nico's shop to get a tattoo, he is doing more than just marking their body to help them heal. Nico offers affection when there is none left. He offers safety, he offers compassion. Nico sees and hears so much sadness and devastation, it's like he carries that hurt for them. Ugh, I could go on and on, and I'm already getting emotional while typing this up, so I digress.

"It takes everything out of me. I can't have relationships because I have nothing else left to give. I can't do it."

Even though we know so little about Nico going in to this book, you might find him off-putting at first. He is a one night stand kind of guy, no room for emotion at all. But you will soon find out why he does what he does, and the toll it takes on him on an emotional level. Nico falls in to this pattern. I have to warn you that some parts are dark and hard to read, especially if you or someone you know has gone through something that broke you. But don't let that deter you. Even though some parts will weigh down your heart, you will get to a point where you let out a deep breath and it will lift, and you will probably cry (like I did) and you will smile, and you will feel like you have read something very special.

"If you can find something or someone that gives you peace when everything else around you is chaos, never let go, baby."

Nico by J.B. Hartnett is a love story that will be forever embedded in to heart and soul. It will take you places you might not want to go, but you will come out a better person. The characters and the story line had so much depth, so much intensity, that at times I was overwhelmed. I think when you can relate to any of Ms. Hartnett's characters, the story will take you to a whole new level, and that's what Nico did with me. Plain and simple, if you have not started this series, you NEED to ASAP. You will thank me AND J.B. Trust Me!

High-Stakes Loving - Fiona Archer Fiona Archer, you little minx, where have you been hiding all my life?! I found my favorite new getaway, and that my friends, is King's Bluff, Wyoming! Full of suspense, intrigue, and a whole bunch of sexiness, High-Stakes Loving will take you on a thrill ride of epic proportions. Even though, Fiona is a fairly new author, she has kicked the ass out of this genre, putting her in the same league as Sophie Oak, Lorelei James, and Cherise Sinclair. High-Stakes Loving is Book #2 in the series, but it can be read as a standalone. I haven't read Book #1, Chloe's Double Draw, but after getting a glimpse of these characters, I am ALL OVER IT! Everything about this book had me on the edge of my seat, wondering what was going to happen next. This was very well written, well thought out, and the characters she has created, will have you falling to your knees in no time.

It always adds to the story when you can relate to a character. For me, that was definitely Reagan. Us full-figured gals need to stick together! Reagan is the town librarian who is loved by many. Even though she is stuck with a horrible reputation because of her mother, she still has friends that have her back no matter what. Reagan has this "good girl" behavior that has her quick to please everyone. On the outside she has times where her insecurities show. But one night with two gorgeous, protective men, she succumbs to her natural submission, and with that comes strength and confidence to help her fight her demons.

Mike and Quinn, 2 Ex-SEALS who also happen to be Doms, (SHOCKER, I know) want nothing more than to capture the heart of their sub. Dealing with issues of their own, trying to fight their own demons, could ruin their chances with Reagan. Quinn's past tragedy and personal guilt is getting in the way of his happiness. Mike's personal demon is himself, and the disappointment he feels from his family has been eating at him, making him feel like half a man. Finding Reagan, bringing out her beautiful submission is just the first step in letting everyone heal.

High-Stakes Loving had multiple swooning moments for sure. Beautiful, protective, strong Doms reading erotic romance books in bed with you? Holy Shit! Sign Me Up Now! The love that these three had for each other was breath-taking and just seemed to jump out of the pages. Not only did the main characters have me hooked, but with all the great secondary characters; they just made me even more excited on what will happen next in the great town of King's Bluff.

Unconditional (Masters and Mercenaries, #5.5)

Unconditional (Masters and Mercenaries, #5.5) - Lexi Blake Whenever someone wants a recommendation on a fantastic BDSM Romance, Lexi Blake is the first author I think of. All of my friends always come back to me and say they want more Lexi Blake and more of the Masters and Mercenaries. The characters in this series jump off the page and in to your hearts, and when the story ends you become sad because you don’t want to leave their world. Lexi creates such strong, well-developed characters that convey such depth and such emotion that you are feeling the same things that they do, which makes the stories and characters so real, and so hard to pull away from.

Unconditional is a Masters and Mercenaries novella, but it packs the same punch as a regular full length novel. I loved how one of the first interactions in Unconditional involved one of my favorite Doms of all time, Mr. Ian Taggert. That man has absolutely no filter, and says whatever the hell he wants no matter who you are. It is fucking hilarious. If you have kept up with the series you know how beautiful it is to have him back, and happy now that his better half has come back to him. He says marriages and babies make him want to vomit, but I bet Lexi will throw some of those obstacles his way in future stories, and I CAN’T WAIT to see Master Ian Taggert handle a baby.

“How would he do it?”

“Do what?”

“Teach me I’m worthy when I’m so damn sure I’m not.”

Unconditional shines the spotlight on two newer characters Keith and Ashley. Keith is a gorgeous, wealthy experienced Dom who is just looking to join Sanctum and blow off some steam with a sub. He wants nothing more, no relationship, no contact outside of the club. Ashley is an employee at the club who doesn’t believe in orgasms. She thinks they are a myth, and she never thought of herself as a submissive. When the contract is signed, and the first scene ends, both perspectives are shattered and all that is left is WANT.

There were so many amazing scenes in this book, I don’t even know where to start. There were times when there was no sex involved, but the scene was still so beautiful. Keith is such a gentle Dom. I think the book stated he was a “service Dom,” which meant that he was out for her pleasure, he got off by servicing her first, that was his main priority. I would characterize Keith as gentle but tough, if that makes sense. Ashley was so adorable as a first time submissive. She was so open and responsive to everything he had to give her. They were a perfect match, even if Keith fought it the whole way, but you knew he wouldn’t stand a chance. No amount of excuses would keep him away from her for too long.

Just like in any good romance, the characters are trying to carry on despite their horrible pasts. There was build up and anticipation on what Keith’s past was like. We get little hints here and there and you can try to guess but once you find out what it is, it hits you like a ton of bricks. A lot of major turning points happen in Unconditional: the moment he thought he was actually good for her, the moment where Ashley stood up for herself and her Dom, and the moment when you find out why Keith is holding back so much of his heart.

When I was almost finished with the book, and I only had a couple of chapters left, I thought to myself, am I actually going to get through a Lexi Blake book without crying my eyes out……NOT A CHANCE IN HELL! During the last chapter, there was a showdown, of a sort, and there was a statement from Keith, and it was so incredibly hard to read. There was so much heart, so much emotion that it just felt like a slap in the face, and I, my friends had myself a good ugly cry all through that chapter.

“Do you know how beautiful you are to me?”

“I know how beautiful I feel when you’re with me.”

Unconditional is a prime example of why this series, as well as the rest of Lexi’s books are instant auto-buys for me. There is a sense of familiarity and comfort in these characters and you just don’t want to let go. As long as she keeps writing these amazing stories, and bringing us on these amazing journeys, I will be right there, first in line to sing her praises.

The Professional: Part 3

The Professional: Part 3 - Kresley Cole "I'm going to push you tonight, Natalie. To determine whether this is truly what you need. You'll be given three tests, and if you pass them, this life will be yours as you desire it."

The Game Maker Series by Kresley Cole is one of the HOTTEST series I have ever read! The Professional is a drop everything now, MUST READ! I can't say enough good things about this. I am so glad Kresley gave the story of The Professional to us. This is one of those series that you will want to read over and over again. I just hope that Ms. Cole does not stop there. Sevastyan has brothers, and I am DYING to know more about that entire sexy family!

Untitled 2

The Professional: Part 2 - Kresley Cole 'There is a need inside me -- it's like a beast that howls. I need to do things to you. I need to control you, command you, punish you. In order to madden you."

I'm officially addicted to The Game Maker series! I can't get enough! The characters are amazing. I can't look away from the pages or else I think I will miss something. This has me so engaged, and I love it! I'm invested in the storyline, in the characters, in this tough love situation they have themselves in. I want more! On to Part 3 my friends!

Cyrus (Men of Steel, #2)

Cyrus (Men of Steel, #2) - M.J. Fields Cyrus by M.J. Fields had me extremely confused at the beginning, and I believe some of that contributes to the fact that maybe this is not a standalone. Characters were in and out, with no background at all. I couldn't follow some of the events that took place, because the topic changes were so frequent. There were times when some of the wording confused me a bit. When it was Cyrus' POV there seemed to be a lot of rambling and ranting going on, which added to my initial confusion. I read a lot of romances where the hero is a bad ass, womanizing, douche bag, but he eventually redeems himself in the end and I fall in love with his character. With Cyrus, I didn't get the end game with him. I didn't fall in love, which was sad because of how he helped out his Birdie. I just didn't get the fluttering in my stomach when there was interaction between the main characters.

I liked the storyline. It was heartbreaking and emotional, but again, it didn't stay with me all the way through. I feel like this author's style of writing has potential, but I can't recommend this book.

The Professional: Part 1

The Professional: Part 1 - Kresley Cole Let me start off by saying that Kresley Cole is one of my favorite PNR authors, so when I saw this and found that it was kind of a thriller romance with a little BDSM thrown in, I was ALL FOR IT! Not only was I captivated from beginning to end, I let out a deep breath when I found out that Part 2 was already out! I'm not sure what I would have done if I had to wait. She was killing me at the end of this. There were some of the hottest sex scenes that I have ever read packed in to this gem, and as soon as I finished I immediately craved more of the sexy Sevastyan!

Steal the Moon (Thieves, #3)

Steal the Moon (Thieves, #3) - Lexi Blake Steal the Moon by Lexi Blake is a Paranormal Romantic Suspense that will leave you breathless until the very last page is turned. Lexi Blake is becoming one of my favorite PNR authors and she hit a home run with the Thieves series. It just keeps getting better and better. I would say that in the future she will be in the same ranks as Kresley Cole, Larissa Ione, and Gena Showalter. Steal the Moon has everything a paranormal reader could ever want: wolves, zombies, demons, pixies, faeries, angels, witches, and of course vampires.

First of all, let me tell you that you have to read this series in order. You will be lost and confused if you don't. I definitely don't want you lost and confused, but I do want you ridiculously satisfied, and you will get that when you read this series. The storyline and the suspense will keep you on your toes, but it's the characters as a whole who bring it home. You will meet so many wonderful, dynamic characters in this series and you will not want to let them go. At first, I was all the way Team Dev! I mean, what's not to love? He's a smooth talking, panty melting, kinky playboy who has fallen head over heels for Zoey Donovan. After reading Steal The Moon, I'm ALSO Team Daniel! and YES, I'm allowed to be both :) In the previous books, Danny was struggling hard. He was alway brooding, arguing, and just plain pissing me off. That's not to say he still isn't accomplishing those qualities in this book, but for me, he has gotten more comfortable in his role as King and also by Zoey's side. He has warmed up to Dev, and those two messing with each other was so fun to read. There is this hilarious back and forth play dynamic between the two, and it's very touching to see how far they have both grown in the relationship. They are even playing video games together, and THAT is just a major improvement. My gorgeous Dev has gotten stronger with the help of Danny, and Danny has become more accepting. It's really beautiful how they have become almost best friends. ( Shhh..don't tell them I said that )

We can all say "oh poor Z!" She has to struggle with loving two men, and I agree that it probably has its ups and downs, but I'm still incredibly jealous of her. I think she finally realizes that she can't live without either one of them. They are way too important to her. In this book, we see her grow as well. At the beginning the boys were sheltering her too much and changing Zoey without meaning to. When she finally stood up and had enough and got back to her own stubborn, hard-headed self is when the real fireworks began.

"If you love me, be brave enough to risk losing me."

There is so much going on in this story. I was captivated the whole way through. There was a wide range of emotions that this pulled out of me. There were times, I wanted to kill Dev and Danny AND Zoey myself. I laughed so hard, I cried even harder, and my breath hitched a couple of times as well. And don't forget, this wouldn't be a Lexi Blake book if there weren't nipple clamps and spankings involved. Oh god, have I mentioned how much I love Dev?! The sex was amazing between these three. Hot as all get out! Rough, tender, sensual, kinky....it had everything a kinky girl like me could want.

"Yes, and she's got the pussy, dude. Maybe you can get pussy wherever you want, but I'm a dude who's only wanted one pussy his whole life. You gotta deal with the pussy in a certain way."

I could probably go on forever with this review, but the last topic I want to hit on is the most important part...the characters, new and old. You finally get to meet Declan, Dev's brother, and let's just say you will not see it coming. If you thought Dev was a playboy, I can't wait for you to meet Declan. Halfer, the demon is still hunting down Zoey and he will stop at nothing to get to her. I can't say too much about Neil, Zoey's gay husband, who also happens to be a wolf, but I will say, I hope he gets his own happy ending along with the rest of them. Sometimes there is a character that swoops in and steals the light from our main characters, and that my friends, has to be Zoey's wolf bodyguard Lee. I loved his no-nonsense attitude from the beginning, and his loyalty, just like Zoey's, is unmatched. By the end of the book, that man/wolf had me in tears.

I chose Steal the Moon as a Top Pick for me. There is just so much to love about this book and this series in general. It will hit all the right spots, and will leave you wanting more. Readers constantly talk about book boyfriends, and I'm on board, in fact I have a few myself, BUT with this book you get an entire book family. You will love each and every one of them. Once again, Lexi has left me with bated breath, counting down the days until she brings us along on her next journey.

A Tragic Wreck (Beautiful Mess)

A Tragic Wreck - T.K. Leigh First of all, if you are reading this review and haven’t read Book 1, A Beautiful Mess, stop what you are doing and GO BUY IT NOW! You will hate me and LOVE me for it, believe me! Another fantastic book to add to a fantastic series. A Tragic Wreck by T.K. Leigh took me on a journey that absolutely wrecked me. You can’t help but crave the emotional whirlwind that is Olivia and Alexander’s relationship. When you start this book, be prepared for a long night, because you will not want to put the thing down. Put your kids AND husband :) to bed, grab a glass of wine, supply yourself with an entire box of tissues and HAVE AT IT! You will thank me later.

A Tragic Wreck starts right back up where we left off in A Beautiful Mess. Olivia secluded herself in Florida because she has a really bad habit of running from difficult situations. Alexander is in Boston trying to move on, but how do you move on when you loved someone your entire life? Mr. Burnham can say he is moving on, but his actions speak louder than words and since he is in the “security business,” of course he is keeping track of her credit cards, and staying close to her friends. They are both horribly distraught, and what do they do instead of working it out, they fall in to what’s familiar. Enter local surf god, Cam, and resident whore, Chelsea. Olivia and Alex are both using these two to forget about the pain. The only difference is, is that Cam doesn’t deserve it. Chelsea on the other hand, ABSOLUTELY deserves whatever she gets. Even though Cam knew Olivia was holding something back, he was still there to be her friend and to help her with the numbness in her heart. Chelsea was just grabbing on to anything and everything to keep Alex in her life.

“But what if I’m too broken for that, Cam?

“Then let me fix you,” he whispered.

Once Alexander receives a clue as to where Olivia is residing, all HELL breaks loose! We are now at the very top of the roller coaster and we are about to plummet to the bottom. Let’s just say stubbornness ensues and tough words are said and it’s an utter disaster. Hey, I’m not putting it lightly to make you feel all tingly. There are all out shouting matches, regretful words are thrown, and a love/hate sex session begins. It’s pretty damn hot, but very sad all at the same time.

“I want you to feel. I want you to feel me every fucking day.”

Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love all of these characters, especially Olivia and Alex, but my god, do they frustrate the hell out of me. I was very vocal while reading this, saying things like, “are you freaking kidding me?” and “NO WAY!” and there were a lot of “That BITCH!” I laugh at this now while I’m typing because it’s just so incredible how much emotion the written word can pull out of you, and how much you can truly care about a fictional character. It’s really a beautiful thing.

“Love doesn’t have a start date. It doesn’t have a use by date. It doesn’t have an expiration date.”

A Tragic Wreck is packed full of suspense, romance, and sexiness! Ghosts from the past are found, some questions are answered, but that only leaves a whole lot more that are not. Enemies return with new agendas, and more secrets are lingering, threatening to tear lives apart. You can’t get better than this people. T.K. Leigh is definitely an author to watch out for. She is taking Romantic Suspense to a whole new level, and she has set the tone for the third book, and I believe it will be just as good, if not better than the first two books in the series. No pressure, my friend :)

Love, Your Concierge - Jessica Ingro Shayna Renee's Spicy Reads Top Pick of 2014

Move over Christian Grey….ladies meet your next ultimate Book Boyfriend….Grant Morgan!

Love, Your Concierge by Jessica Ingro was SO FREAKIN’ GOOD! This was my first read from Ms. Ingro and I couldn’t be happier to add another Contemporary Romance favorite to my MUST READ list. This story had me captivated the whole way through. I couldn’t put it down, not even for a second. A book that can take me away from the boredom of everyday life, hold me captive for hours straight, and takes my breath away over and over again, deserves the highest rating possible. There is nothing I can criticize about this story. I loved the characters. They made me laugh, made me blush, and at times, made me want to slap them senseless. The storyline held my attention and kept me on the edge of my seat. Love, Your Concierge was a beautiful, funny, emotional love story that will warm your heart. There is nothing I like better than a great romance with a SEXY, alpha male for its hero, and a strong, independent woman that keeps him on his toes.

❝He was utterly fuckable. There was no other way to describe him. Unless you were within a ten foot radius of the man himself, you would never truly know what that statement meant. It had to have been created just to describe him.❞

And that my friends, describes Grant Morgan perfectly! Gorgeous, rich, demanding, possessive. Come on! Us readers didn’t stand a chance with this guy! Everything you want in a hero, Mr. Morgan has it….TIMES TEN! Even though he is SEXINESS personified, he, as I mentioned before, is one of the characters that I wanted to slap a couple of times. How can someone so beautiful be so freakin’ infuriating?! Oh well, I guess you could say he is a man, and you should expect that, but I can say that he does make up for it, AGAIN and AGAIN!

❝If I want to kiss you, I damn well will. If I want to fuck you, I’ll do that too. And if you even think about telling me it’s a mistake again, I’ll gag you.❞

Elizabeth is our leading lady, and she is just hysterical. In my opinion, she has the best job for her personality. The things that girl must see on a daily basis, just wow! Elizabeth has avoided relationships for as long as she can remember. She tells herself that it’s because she is so busy and never finds the time for that, but deep down she is like the rest of us, afraid of having a broken heart. To stay on the safe side, she has a friend with benefits, and we all know how those end. Sometimes we just need that dominating presence to break down the walls around our hearts. Sometimes…….we just need a little bit of Mr. Morgan.

❝Tell me you’re mine, Elizabeth. That no other man will ever be able to touch you. To taste you. To love you.❞

As you can tell by the quotes I’m picking to add to the review, the sexual tension, the chemistry, the angst was out of control! All throughout the book, I kept my eyes glued to the words, reading them over and over again, just grinning, gasping, and craving more. Jessica Ingro can write a damn love scene that’s for sure. Your erotic side will be satisfied believe you me.

Not only is Ms. Ingro descriptive with her sex scenes (which I appreciate SO MUCH), she is descriptive in everything she writes, down to the outfits of the characters and the layout of a room. All of a sudden you are transported to place that she is describing and you can picture it perfectly in your head. That takes skill, and it’s just another element that made this story so much more for the reader.

Not only is Love, Your Concierge a must read, but it is a TOP PICK of 2014! You will not want to miss out on this love story. Powerful, intense, and steamy, this book will take you for a ride and you will never want to get off. I look forward, no that’s not right, I CAN’T FREAKIN’ WAIT for another read from Jessica Ingro. You are now on my radar woman!

Forever Wicked (1001 Dark Nights, #1) (Wicked Lovers, #7.8)

Forever Wicked (1001 Dark Nights, #1) (Wicked Lovers, #7.8) - Shayla Black When I first found out about this 1001 Dark Nights projected I was very excited because I was a huge fan of pretty much the entire panel of authors who are involved. Of course, when I found out that Ms. Shayla Black was first in line to release her novella I was even more thrilled, especially because it is a novella from one of my all time favorite series, Wicked Lovers. Forever Wicked focused on some new characters, but also gave us glimpses of my favorite main man Mitchell Thorpe. This novella also took us back to the best place in the world Club Dominion! I can’t tell you how much these characters have become a family to me, and Forever Wicked just added to that family. Although this was a novella it was packed full of passionate, incredibly intense scenes that will have you leave you breathless. Shayla Black did what she does best, create the ultimate, sexy, troubled Dom who you have no problem falling in love with, even though he is arrogant and might have a little bit of “mommy issues.” And for his better half, an independent, strong woman, who acts before she thinks, but in the end learns and fully embraces her submissive side.

“Unconditional love and eternal devotion are seductive thoughts, but they don’t exist.”

Jason Denning has it drilled in to his mind (no thanks to mommy dearest) that there is no such thing as love. There is, however, such a thing as buying affection. With his mother going through rich men like they are candy, what else is a young man to think. He has never witnessed love in his family, so why should he think there is such a thing out in the world? Jason thought he finally found someone, but when a horrible event tears her away from him, and she doesn’t return to his side, and he finds out it was her choice, this only fueled more fire in his belief that there is no love, only money. Money gets things done, money will make her come back to him and stay.

”You are my responsibility. As your husband, your problems are my problems. Instead of giving them to me, you shut me out and shouldered everything yourself. Stubborn, independent…” He clenched his jaw. “You’re making my palm itch.”

Gianna is a part of a strong Catholic, Italian family, and there are certain things expected of her, like marrying a strong Catholic, Italian man. Jason Denning is neither of those things, but she wants him nonetheless. When tragedy strikes and she is forced home to take care of her family, she lets a year go by without speaking with her husband. Even though she is strong, she sometimes can be insecure and when she starts wondering why a man of Jason’s status would want anything to do with her, she hides behind her family issues. When Jason finds her and offers her a hell of a deal, she has no choice but to take it, for her family and for her heart.

“You’ll always keep me safe, right?”

“Always, to my last breath.”

Jason and Gia’s story was incredibly moving and heart-breaking. Both had walls that were keeping them apart. Both were way too stubborn for their own good. Being headstrong and stubborn sure make for great sex though. Wow, the things Mr. Denning can do with chocolate mousse…*sigh* Shayla Black never disappoints with this series. I can’t get enough of the passion, the intensity, the drama. She gives us the whole package and then some.

A Mate's Bite (Sassy Mates #2)

A Mate's Bite (Sassy Mates #2) - Milly Taiden Milly Taiden is at it again with her SEXY shifters! The Wolfe men are to die for. They are gorgeous, strong, and protective. Milly is a go to author for me when it comes to the paranormal. Not only does she spin a great story, but the sex scenes are fantastic and steamy. Intense scenes right off the bat! Now, that’s how your start a freaking story! She has a way of bringing her characters to life and transporting you to a world full of passion, possibilities, and drama. So when this author writes, I read. That’s all there is to it.

“I like knowing you have that wild side sitting there, wanting to play with me.”

Karla Alves is a human who has not had the best guidance growing up. Her mother had a habit of gifting men with money in order to keep them with her. This is not what you want your children to witness when they are growing up. With a mother like that and a father that wanted nothing to do with them, who can blame a girl for being terrified of any kind of emotional connection. Even though she knows that her mother was crazy and she is trying not to make those same mistakes, it has to be hard to erase that kind of mindset. When you have a Wolfe as your mate, you better squash that shit right away, because they are always ALL IN, no matter what.

“I love being with you. In you. And you have to understand that it’s never going to change.”

Nathan Wolfe always had feelings for Karla, ever since they met seven years ago. He has always tried to be there for her, and when they shared that one kiss long ago, he was done for. Nathan just had to wait for the right time to mark her and make her HIS. After realizing how Karla grew up and what her mother was like, he was determined to make her talk, make her open up and talk to him. It’s difficult to do that because of pack business with the rogues. He wants to hunt down the bastards who continue to hurt his family, but he doesn’t want to leave Karla and make her think he is abandoning her.

“It’s one of the words I think of when I think of you. Sassy, sexy, and beautiful. You’re all of the above.”

There is so much to love about this book. I could not contain my giggles every time Karla called Nathan, “Spot.” It is so endearing and cute. Jordan is back and feisty as ever. It was nice to catch up from past characters and to meet new ones, who I hope, in the future, get their very own story. It’s not just the shifters that are feisty and protective. The humans that they call family are just as tough and vigilant. The Sassy Mates series is a series I highly recommend for the paranormal romance lover in you. A Mate’s Bite was a sexy, exciting, page turner, and I can’t wait to see who gets their very own story next.
